Promoting Responsible Drinking
The vast majority of people in New Zealand drink responsibly and sociably. There are a minority however who drink to excess and misuse alcohol. The drivers behind this are complex.
Spirits New Zealand is committed to helping to create a moderate drinking culture in New Zealand. We believe that this can be achieved through evidenced-based and targeted interventions that address the reasons behind problem drinking. We believe that a whole-of-community approach is needed to model positive drinking behaviours and, as a result, help create a generation of drinkers who drink sociably and responsibly. To support this Spirits New Zealand along with New Zealand Winegrowers and the Brewers Association of Australia and New Zealand have jointly established The Tomorrow Project whose aim is to help create a safe and sociable drinking culture in New Zealand through well-evidenced educational programmes.
